General Glossary
Gap System
Otherwise known as a shadow system, is an additional workaround developed to support processes that the core system cannot. Unlike an extended system, a gap or shadow system has a similar function as the core system which often indicates an inefficiency of the core system.
General Deductions
A deduction taken from a benefit recipient's payment that is not a health or life deduction.
General Ledger
A permanent record - historically a physical book, but more commonly a computer program today - containing all of the financial transactions of an organization. All financial reports are constructed utilizing the general ledger.
Get (permission)
Get is an integration action that retrieves Workday data. It is a permission that can be granted in a domain security policy.
Gift
Driver Worktag that identifies external contributions received from donors for a specific purpose as identified by the donor. This Worktag is used for endowments and non-endowed trusts.
Go-live
The date on which a software will be operational and used by the entire organization
Grant
Driver Worktag that identifies funds received from a sponsor for a specific purpose as identified by the sponsor. It is used to track external and internal (cost share) sources of funding that are treated similar to sponsored Awards. Every Award Line must be associated with a Grant.
